About this course
This training course is built on the unique 5 Pillars of Medical Writing, designed for aspiring medical writers and those with industry experience looking to hone their skills. Developed by Sarah Nelson, PhD—a medical writer since 2006 with experience mentoring writers across 20+ med comms agencies—the course teaches not just how to write well, but the strategic thinking, planning, and storytelling skills needed to thrive in medical communications today.
The course is structured around five core phases: pre-course essentials, planning, writing (split into scientific understanding/storytelling and technical writing), finalizing your document, and a final assessment. Learners work through 42 video lessons totalling 3.5 hours of content, supplemented by practical assignments that test knowledge and build confidence in key competencies.
