About this course
Reflective practice for doctors is expected but often poorly taught. This 4-hour online course equips doctors of all grades and specialties with the skills to reflect effectively, convert their thoughts into practical actions, and create written submissions for assessment, appraisal, career progression, or investigations.
The course explores both the benefits and challenges of reflective practice, clarifying the legal and regulatory position of reflections. You'll learn how to gain and demonstrate insight into your actions, choices and experiences, and discover methods for converting reflection into practical action. The course is designed to put you in charge, helping you develop a personal approach to reflective practice that works for your own benefit.
The course is split into 17 short sections covering topics including: how to feel confident about reflective practice, legal considerations, insight development, reflecting on challenging and successful situations, structured approaches, and converting reflections to action. You'll encounter a diverse panel of doctors who share their experiences via video interview clips, helping you consider different perspectives and develop your own solutions.
The learning experience combines videos, animations, infographics, text, and reflective exercises. You can complete the course in one session or dip in and out over weeks or months at your own pace.
