About this course
In the fast-paced environment of Emergency Departments, arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation is a vital skill. Every few minutes, clinicians are required to review and sign off ABG results — a process that demands both accuracy and confidence. This course provides a structured approach to mastering ABG interpretation, ensuring participants can identify abnormalities, understand their clinical significance, and initiate appropriate management.
The programmed covers the fundamentals of acid-base balance, explores common disorders leading to imbalances, and provides practical guidance on recognizing and treating these conditions. To make learning engaging and effective, OSCE-style teaching methods are used to simulate real clinical scenarios, helping participants build confidence in interpreting ABGs within NHS settings.
