Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP)

This dynamic two-day course equips you with the confidence and expertise to manage deteriorating surgical patients. Learn a systematic approach, reduce risks and apply multidisciplinary strategies to treat critically ill patients and save lives.

Led by expert faculty from surgical and anaesthetic specialties, this immersive training blends hands-on practice, real-world scenarios and essential knowledge, all in a supportive and engaging environment. You'll develop your practical and theoretical skills and personal judgment to handle complex cases with precision and calm.

CCrISP is relevant to all specialties, however examples are predominantly taken from general surgical patients. The course is mapped to the ISCP syllabus and will support you in developing the relevant clinical and personal skills needed to succeed in ST3 interviews.

The course is an assessed, interactive programme that combines a variety of teaching and learning techniques, such as simulated patient scenarios, case-based skill stations and demonstrations. You will be encouraged to share knowledge and experience with your peers throughout the course, and a certificate of completion will be awarded to successful participants.

During the course, you will:
