About this course
A 2½-day intensive exam preparation course in strict Structured Oral Examination (SOE) practice, delivered under conditions as close to the actual FRCA Final examination as possible. The course follows the "Magic Roundabout" format (2 on 1 peer-to-peer vivas), providing candidates with repeated opportunities to practise and refine their viva technique and presentation skills.
The course is designed for candidates who are fully prepared and ready to sit the FRCA Final SOE examination. It is not a teaching or revision course; instead, it focuses on exam exposure, practice, and technique refinement through peer learning. MSA explicitly advises that you should attend only when you consider yourself already thoroughly prepared for the imminent examination.
The programme includes:
• Advice on viva techniques, structure, and presentation
• Insights into the examiner perspective
• Timed vivas in long and short clinical cases
• Timed vivas in anatomy and physiology with associated short clinical cases
• Timed vivas in pharmacology and physics with associated short clinical cases
• Coverage of at least 48 topics reflective of the Final FRCA examination
• Groupwork preparation, review, and discussion around topics
All SOEs follow RCA structure and are conducted under examination conditions. The course involves long hours and hard work, but is designed to be both enjoyable and beneficial. Candidates must commit to attending the full duration (no late arrivals or early departures permitted) as the Magic Roundabout format is disrupted if individuals are absent. You are eligible to attend this course only once, and only if you are sitting the imminent Final FRCA SOE examination and are fully prepared.
