About this course
The MSA's Final FRCA Written Finisher Programme is an intensive 100-hour course designed to prepare anaesthetic registrars for the Final FRCA Written exam. The programme addresses key challenges trainees face when preparing for this examination: the vast volume of content to cover, limited time available for dedicated study, restrictions on study leave from deaneries, and lack of opportunities to practise exam technique and timing under simulated conditions.
The course is structured as a unified two-component programme held over 10 days in August 2026. Trainees who complete both components consistently achieve pass rates significantly higher than those attending only one part. This integrated approach allows candidates to consolidate their learning and enter the exam with confidence, rather than spreading preparation across multiple attempts.
Course format and structure:
• SBA Component: 16th–21st August (interactive teaching, group work, and practice questions)
• CRQ 'Booker' Component: 23rd–27th August (focused on constructed response question technique and timing)
• Venue: Village Hotel, Liverpool (postcode L35 1RZ) with hybrid access via Zoom
• Approximately 75 places available
• Flexible attendance: while the full 10-day programme is strongly recommended, candidates may attend one component only if leave restrictions prevent full participation
The programme emphasises both content mastery and exam technique. Trainees benefit from expert faculty guidance, group-work elements in the SBA component, and intensive practice in a simulated examination environment with strict timing. The MSA notes that pass rates are consistently higher for those who attend both parts, making the full-course commitment worthwhile.
