About this course
The Medset Trauma & Orthopaedics ST3 Interview Course is designed to help doctors secure a highly competitive National Training Number in one of the UK's most competitive surgical recruitment processes. With over 600 applicants competing for approximately 150 posts (competition ratio ~4.56:1), this course provides targeted preparation that goes beyond generic interview coaching.
The course covers the complete T&O ST3 interview format across three main stations: Clinical, Prioritisation, and Portfolio/Commitment to Specialty. You'll master clear frameworks for every station, learn step-by-step guidance from top-ranking trainees, and develop practical tools to refine your delivery. The course teaches you not just what to say, but how to structure answers to capture marks across every domain of the official T&O ST3 Scoring Matrix.
Core content includes understanding the interview format and scoring domains, sound management of acute trauma and complex theatre lists, current BOAST guidelines and national clinical standards, high-level registrar thinking for challenging scenarios, and techniques to refine timing, delivery and confidence. The clinical station module covers over 15 common and curveball presentations including compartment syndrome, shoulder dislocation, ankle fractures, neck of femur, post-operative complications, open fractures, and others. Dedicated modules address communication skills, consent frameworks, breaking bad news, commitment to specialty, and prioritisation scenarios.
The online course includes 60+ expert-written topics, over 100 clinical questions, access to a discussion board, a knowledge hub, and new 2026 interview updates reflecting the latest recruitment format. You can access modules anytime at your own pace. For additional hands-on practice, mock interviews led by top-scoring trainees are available as an optional add-on (Pro Bundle), offering personalised feedback on structure, timing and delivery via Zoom.
