About this course
Vascular Surgery ST3 National Selection is one of the most competitive recruitment pathways in UK surgical training, with approximately 5 applicants per post. This course provides comprehensive interview preparation combining expert teaching from top-performing trainees and consultant surgeons.
The course mirrors the ST3 interview format exactly, which comprises two stations lasting around 50 minutes total. Station 1 includes a clinical scenario and communication task; Station 2 covers a management scenario and virtual skills or portfolio review. Each area is timed and scored independently to reflect real consultant practice.
You'll master frameworks and strategies across all interview domains: clinical knowledge, management, communication, professionalism, skills, and portfolio presentation. The course teaches you how to structure clear, high-scoring answers, manage vascular emergencies with registrar-level reasoning, communicate effectively under pressure in complex scenarios, and refine your delivery and timing with realistic practice questions.
Core content includes 60+ expert-written topics covering the clinical station (acute limb ischaemia, AAA, diabetic foot sepsis, pseudoaneurysms, carotid endarterectomy, mesenteric ischaemia, venous and diabetic ulcers, and more), the communication station (using the CLEAR framework for breaking bad news, operation cancellation, and palliative care), the management station with four full scenarios, and virtual clinical skills covering common procedures. New 2026 updates reflect the latest interview changes.
