About this course
This 4-day hands-on bootcamp is designed for healthcare professionals ready to take their musculoskeletal ultrasound skills to the next level. Led by experienced SonoSkills trainers including Marc Schmitz (Founder), Rob Epping, and Mark van Doorn, the course provides comprehensive education in advanced diagnostic imaging of all extremity joints. The course is delivered as a blended format combining in-person hands-on training in Amsterdam with online learning components.
The curriculum covers detailed anatomy, variants, biomechanics, and pathology recognition for the upper and lower extremity joints, delivered over 4 days split into two parts: Days 1–2 focus on the upper extremity (shoulder, elbow, wrist, forearm, and hand), with Days 3–4 covering the lower extremity (knee, hip, ankle, foot, and toe regions). Each day runs from 09:00–17:30 with structured sessions on specific anatomical regions and scanning protocols. A 2-day break (Saturday and Sunday) between parts allows international attendees to explore Amsterdam.
Participants learn comprehensive scanning skills, sonopathology recognition, and advanced transducer positioning that extends beyond foundational protocols. Key learning outcomes include reviewing normal anatomy and variants, developing confidence in performing complete extremity joint examinations, understanding the pros and cons of ultrasound imaging, conducting advanced examinations, and gaining practical pearls, pitfalls, tricks, and best practices from expert trainers.
