About this course
The Advanced Neuromuscular Ultrasound course is designed for healthcare professionals looking to deepen their expertise in nerve and muscle ultrasound. Over two intensive days, you will refine your skills in neuromuscular imaging, including advanced scanning protocols. The course enhances diagnostic accuracy and interventional capabilities, covering a wide range of topics from the anatomy of nerves to complex patient case discussions.
This hands-on course combines two full days of in-person training in Amsterdam with six months of blended eLearning access. The blended approach combines personalized face-to-face learning and social interaction with greater variety and flexibility, responding to the needs of the modern learner. Over 3 hours of on-demand content are available to you before, during, and after the course for 6 months.
Throughout the course, you will master advanced imaging techniques for high-resolution imaging of less-often scanned nerves, accurately identify and differentiate between normal and pathological findings in nerves and muscles, gain expertise in evaluating common and complex peripheral nerve entrapments, injuries, and tumors, and learn how to integrate neuromuscular ultrasound with electrodiagnostic studies (EMG and nerve conduction studies) through case discussions.
The course includes hands-on experience with ultrasound-guided therapeutic interventions such as nerve block injections, with opportunities to tailor ultrasound protocols based on individual patient presentations. Day 1 covers brachial and sciatic nerve sonoanatomy with case discussions on inflammatory pathology, nerve trauma, nerve tumors, and uncommon entrapments. Day 2 focuses on additional nerves, image artefacts, muscle ultrasound in myopathies, and hands-on phantom exercises and real patient scanning.
