About this course
Are you prepared to manage complex cardiothoracic patients in non-cardiac settings? This highly interactive, case-based study day will enhance your confidence in perioperative management through real-world clinical scenarios, expert-led discussions, and interactive decision-making exercises.
The course is run by Cambridge Critical Care Education and delivered as an online interactive course on 8th June 2026, from 09:00–17:00. Meeting details and the Zoom link will be provided by email prior to the course date.
The day is structured around three main sessions covering managing transplant patients for non-cardiac surgery, cardiac challenges in the operating theatre, and perioperative management with advanced techniques. Topics covered include:
- Managing post-heart and lung transplant patients for non-cardiac surgery
- Valvular pathologies in anaesthesia
- Right ventricular failure and pulmonary hypertension
- End-stage heart failure and LVAD management
- Anticoagulation and antiplatelet strategies
- Invasive vs non-invasive monitoring
- One-lung ventilation physiology and troubleshooting
You'll engage in interactive clinical scenarios, expert-led teaching from leading specialists in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and perioperative medicine, live decision-making exercises, real-time Q&A sessions, and panel discussions with faculty. The course is approved for 6 CPD hours by RCSEd.
