About this course
This neurology update is a practical CPD course designed for consultant psychiatrists, SAS doctors and senior trainees who want to strengthen their understanding of neurological conditions commonly encountered in psychiatric practice. The course focuses on the overlap between neurology and psychiatry, helping delegates improve diagnosis, investigation and management of patients presenting with neurological or neuropsychiatric symptoms.
The course is delivered live and online via Teams or Webex on Thursday 5 November 2026, running from 09:30 to 17:10 with breaks and a lunch break included. The format combines short theory lectures with case scenarios, discussion and interactive Q&A sessions. Faculty members are leading consultant neurologists and psychiatrists from major NHS trusts and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Sessions cover:
• Neurological examination and investigations in psychiatric settings, including autoimmune encephalitis and functional neurological disorders
• Alzheimer's disease and other dementias in psychiatric patients
• EEG, epilepsy and anticonvulsants
• Movement disorders and Parkinson's disease
• Functional neurologic disorder
• Neuroimaging in psychiatry, including CT, MRI and understanding reports
The 60 minutes allocated to each lecture include 15-20 minutes for discussion and questions. Delegates can interact with speakers using online chat tools to submit questions. The programme addresses relevant issues from COVID and Long COVID. Attendees receive a CPD certificate of attendance with 6 CPD points, and 90 days of access to the on-demand recording with unlimited playback.
Early-bird price £195 until Friday 17 July 2026 (normal price £225 thereafter). Multiple course discounts apply: 10% for 2 courses, 15% for 3 courses, 20% for 4 courses when booked together with other related psychiatry courses.
