Online Teach the Teacher Course

The course covers adult learning theory and effective teaching principles, structuring and delivering engaging teaching sessions, adapting teaching to different learning styles and learner needs, communication and presentation techniques, giving effective feedback, and managing difficult situations. You'll explore evidence-based teaching models including Honey and Mumford Learning Styles, Edgar Dale's Pyramid of Learning, and the 4MAT System, along with practical facilitation tools and techniques that can be applied immediately within real-world teaching and training environments.

The course is structured across four main topic areas:
• Foundations of Effective Teaching and Learner Engagement — covering the top challenges faced when teaching, what makes an effective teacher, understanding your audience, and the Rules of Retention
• Learning Styles, Engagement and Session Design — exploring different learning preferences, pattern interrupts, and the effective use of technology
• Confidence, Communication and Managing Challenges — building presenter confidence, handling difficult questions using the ACE technique, and maintaining control and engagement
• Advanced Teaching Skills — creating psychological safety, objective setting, effective debriefing, and managing difficult situations

The course concludes with a two-hour live online webinar delivered via Zoom, where participants consolidate learning, discuss practical application of concepts, reflect on their own teaching experiences, and engage in interactive discussion with other participants and the course facilitator. The course uses thought-provoking videos, exercises, and questionnaires to make complex topics easily digestible. Participants who successfully complete the online modules and attend the validation webinar receive 12 CPD points/hours. The course is suitable for doctors at all grades, nurses, managers, and other healthcare professionals involved in teaching, training, or education. It is recognised for CCT and portfolio purposes.
