Medical Education 101

MedEd101 is a comprehensive introductory course in medical education designed to teach healthcare professionals the fundamental principles and theories they need to become better educators. The course is run by RadCast and covers everything from reflection models and constructive feedback to lesson planning, assessment principles, and the key learning theories that underpin effective medical education.

The course is structured as 14 self-paced video lessons totalling 3.5 hours of content, with supplementary materials including a Gagné 9 Steps of Instruction template. Topics covered include: introduction to medical education as a career, reflection in practice, feedback techniques, learning objectives and outcomes, lesson planning, assessment principles and tools, and four major learning theories (behaviourism, cognitivism, constructivism, and social learning theory). Upon completion, you'll complete a simple 500-word reflection exercise as an end-of-course assessment. Once submitted, RadCast will provide you with a certificate that you can add to your professional portfolio as evidence of developing as an educator.
